professionals comment on the e-cig

When the time comes for you to make a decision about your use of electronic cigarette (e-cig) technology, take comfort in knowing that physicians are now recommending the e-cig. Doctors nationwide are seeing that, for their patients, the e-cig is a logical option. It is a known fact that the smoking of tobacco exposes the smoker to more than 6,000 chemicals, 66 known carcinogens and causes over 400,000 PREVENTABLE deaths per year in the U.S. alone. Tobacco Harm Researchers, Institutions that are tasked to guard the publics health and many others now have opinions about the electronic cigarette.

This site is sponsored by the Tobacco Vapor Electronic Cigarette Association and designed to provide you with the resources to assist you in making an informed decision about your use of electronic cigarette technology. We are working with physicians and tobacco harm reduction researchers and specialists to bring you the information contained on this website so you may have access to unbiased data concerning e-cig technology. We encourage New York Assembly Members to amend Assembly Bill A01468 to just ban e-cigarette sales to minors under 18

"Prohibits the sale of electronic cigarettes to minors; prohibits distribution or sale of any item containing or delivering nicotine that is not defined by law as a tobacco product or approved by the United States food and drug administration for sale as a tobacco use cessation or harm reduction product"

Bill A01468's Justification is Scientifically/Factually Wrong:

JUSTIFICATION:  Recent  advertisements  have  touted "e-cigarettes" as a healthier alternative to traditional tobacco consumption and as a tobacco cessation product. These electronic cigarettes  are  battery-operated devices  that vaporize cartridges filled with nicotine, flavor and other chemicals that the user inhales.  Advertisements for these products omit any mention of FDA testing that found users inhale carcinogens and toxic chemicals such as diethylene glycol, an ingredient found in antifreeze.

In over 19 studies including the FDA's own test referenced in the above bill justification has there EVER been a single carcinogen, toxin or chemical at ANY levels harmful to humans (click here for the FDA and other studies).  We are advising New York State Assenbly Members: You are voting on a bill whose justification is scientifically and factually wrong. Should you not wait and garner ALL the facts, science and experiences of your electronic cigarette constituents before you send them back to the smoking of tobacco-the one product we know will kill them?? There are only FIVE ingredients in an electronic cigarette and ALL have been in the U.S. food supply for generations and ALL are approved by the FDA/EPA. (Click here and here for review)

To date, not a single governmental agency or individual has named a single American out of the 1,000,000+ users to be harmed by an e-cig after 3+years on the market.

WHAT TO DO

The TVECA is working with the National Vapers Club to get the word out  to stop this action. Please take 10 seconds to use the automatic form letter on VapeBans.com to contact New York Assembly Health Committee members. You can still do that if you have not done it yet but we really need your help with phone calls today! We have today, Monday January 24th and tomorrow as they may vote to send it to the full Assembly on Wednesday and then there will be too many legislators to call. We need to try to stop this HERE!!! The phone numbers are pasted below to make things easier for you. You do NOT need to call every person on the list... pick a few at random. If we each pick 2 or 3 to call it WILL make a difference!!!

IMMEDIATE ACTION NEEDED-LEGISLATION Assembly Bill A01468 IS NOW IN THE NEW YORK STATE LEGISLATURE. PLEASE CONTACT THE MEMBERS LISTED BELOW TO INFORM ABOUT YOUR OPPOSITION TO BANNING THE E-CIG
